WHY ATTEND GI-TEC, MT. PLEASANT???
Here is how one parent answers that question…….
I would highly recommend the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center to all high school students. What a great experience it has been for my three children! My daughter took the two year nursing program, and between her junior and senior year she took the CENA test and passed it, and is now a registered CENA. She started her first job as a CENA during her senior year making more than minimum wage. She is still working as a CENA while going to school. She is currently going to get her EMT license.
My son took the two year Automotive Technology program. He went to MMCC after graduation to get a certification as an automobile technician and was able to write off three classes due to already taking them at the GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant location. He has already, after only one semester at MMCC, been certified in two aspects of his career path. He was able to obtain a job at a local repair shop as a mechanic after his first semester of college--making more than minimum wage. He should be done with college in just two years!
My other son has taken the two year Small Engine Technology program, and through this program was offered a Co-op job at the Mt. Pleasant Public School’s bus garage as a Mechanic’s Assistant. He dearly loves his job, and they are planning to keep him on after graduation. This was a boy who wasn’t sure what he wanted to do in life his senior year and as of Christmas still hadn’t decided what college to go to. But after he worked a few months at the bus garage, he decided he wanted to be a diesel mechanic; and I am pleased to say he will be attending college in the fall, and will also be able to write off a couple of classes due to already taking them at the GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant center.
All three of my children also received the National Technical Honor Society Award which has likewise helped them on their pathway in life.
I encourage parents and students to go and visit the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center in Mt. Pleasant to learn all they have to offer. The teachers there are awesome and are always willing to help students.
