Culinary Arts
Students in the Culinary Arts & Hospitality program will gain hands-on food and restaurant experience while operating the school's restaurant, "Herbs & Spices". Areas emphasized are meal preparation, baking, salads, kitchen equipment, banquet services, breakfast services, waiter/waitress training, and kitchen and dining room management. Instruction includes preparing, serving and knowledge of quality foods, safety and sanitation, management, equipment operation and maintenance. GI-TEC / CMU Collab
GI-TEC and @CMUniversity students are teaming up to create a healthier—but still delicious—cookie! Our Culinary Arts students bake fresh cookies every day for the School Store, and they’re always working to bring the best products to our students. Research, testing, and tasting turn our kitchen into a truly delicious laboratory.
Culinary Arts Co-op
Jordin Barden, GI-TEC Culinary Arts student, is turning up the heat at her work-based learning placement at The Hearthstone Oven in Ithaca! Using the skills she’s built in class, Jordin is meeting customer needs, creating delicious dishes, and earning money while still in school. That’s real-world experience you can taste!
Herbs & Spices is GI-TEC's student-operated restaurant where classroom learning comes to life every day. As part of the Culinary Arts program, students gain hands-on experience preparing meals, serving customers, managing operations, and maintaining the high standards expected in the food service industry. Open during the school year, the restaurant provides students with real-world training in a fully functioning dining environment.

GI-TEC Culinary Arts students showcased their culinary expertise with delicious recipes featuring fresh, in-season local ingredients athe Mount Pleasant Farmers Market. Visitors can sample dishes, pick up recipes, shop the Farmers Market, and recreate these amazing flavors at home.
