Interior Design

Students are introduced to a unique integrated classroom that provides hands-on experience in applying design and drafting theories. Students create classroom designs that come to life by working at the School House Project. The Interior Design program provides many opportunities to excel in the design world, such as: kitchen design, drafting and rendering, painting, ceramic tile, wall covering installation, and various detail interior finishes. The program covers residential, commercial, and barrier free design. These design practices are used to expand individual creativity by designing functional and pleasing interiors for all kinds of users. Extensive color theory is covered and how it can affect people and their environment. All materials and color selections for the School House Project are a part of the Interior Design program task list each year. Students are able to utilize the large materials lab that houses many of the latest styles in fabrics, window coverings, floor coverings, lighting and furniture. Students are able to enhance communication skills by presenting design work to gain experience with future clients. The Interior Design program prepares the serious design student for many opportunities to compete for college and trade school scholarships and recognition.

(Interior Design is held at the GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant Campus).
