CTE Club
Career and Technical Education (CTE) Club
Preparing Students for Real-World Success
The GI-TEC CTE club provides students with valuable opportunities to extend their learning beyond the classroom. Designed to connect academic knowledge with real-world experiences, CTE helps students explore career pathways, build professional skills, and gain confidence in their future goals.
CTE brings together students who share similar career interests, creating a collaborative environment where they can grow both personally and professionally. Whether a student is interested in healthcare, business, skilled trades, technology, or the arts, CTE clubs offer meaningful, hands-on experiences that support their journey.
Why Join?
Joining the CTE club means gaining real experience, building a professional network, and preparing for life after high school. Students not only grow their technical abilities but also develop essential soft skills like communication, problem-solving, and collaboration. Any student can be a CTE Club member. CTE Club board members must be a part of a CTE class and participate in the Michigan Industrial & Technology Education Society (MITES) student competition. MITES brings together student projects from around the state to compete in various categories from woodworking to electronics and machining. Each year roughly three thousand student projects are entered with students earning over eight thousand dollars in scholarships to college/universities, trade schools and apprenticeship programs.
Skill Application
Students have the opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world scenarios. Through projects, activities, and hands-on experiences, they deepen their understanding and see how their skills translate into actual careers.
Networking
CTE clubs connect students with industry professionals, guest speakers, and potential employers. These connections can open doors to mentorships, internships, and future career opportunities.
Leadership Development
Students build leadership skills by taking on roles within the club, participating in community service projects, and helping organize events. These experiences foster confidence, responsibility, and teamwork.
Talking Business Cards
The GI-TEC CTE Club is making "Talking Business Cards" - a creative way to stand out and showcase your skills. Students come prepared with their elevator pitch and a background idea. They’ll record their pitch in front of a green screen, and Digital Media students will bring it to life - creating a custom video and QR code that links directly to their digital card! This is where technology, creativity, and career skills all come together in one awesome experience.
